Premiere in Boston
August 16, 2001

Last night was our opening night in Boston. Contrary to the dress rehearsal on Monday, everything went very well. The papers are very quick to publish the reviews here. In most cities where we have played in the past, it usually takes a day or two for them to appear but both the Herald and the Globe had a review this morning. Amusingly, they disagreed totally about the show. The Globe liked it, the Herald did not. I guess you can't satisfy everybody!

The party was taking place on site and I had a lot of apprehensions about it. Last time we did this was at the San Jose, CA premiere of "Quidam", four years ago and it was absolutely horrible. No atmosphere, no dancing, if there had not been those strangely dressed characters giving out champagne glasses in front of the concession tents, nobody would have guessed there was a party there.

The one last night was a lot of fun and I ended up staying a lot longer than I expected. Since it was outside, it was easy to find a place quiet enough to carry a conversation. We were also lucky not to have the traditional Cirque du Soleil opening night weather (rain).
