Well, I am finally in Dallas, TX. I don't know how to describe how good it felt to get away from the east coast. Not because of September 11th and the Anthrax scare, I have just never been much of an east coast guy. I love New York but I find the quality of life over there is not the same. When touring the east coast, we tend to play huge, old cities which were designed and built long before the invention of the automobile. Everything is smaller, everything closes early and even the simplest errand involves either a long walk or waiting for a train or a bus. The rythm of life itself is faster, people don't take the time to appreciate the beauty around them, it's a different culture.
I find things much more simple here. I have a nice apartment which I'm sharing with a new roommate, we live on the 14th floor, we have this huge balcony overlooking the swimming pool on one side and the park on the other side, there's free parking inside the building, there's a grocery store (a real Albertson's!!!!) less than a mile from here, what else could I ask for? Oh and it is warmer too, which helps. I remembered Dallas people as being cold and snobbish but I thought the opposite yesterday when I went shopping. Perhaps I've just been out east too long...
