Chapter 10: Wait, There's A Catch

I never thought I would end up adding another chapter to these Chronicles. It has been six months now since we left Belgium and the living conditions have been much better. Of course it's nothing like the luxurious lifestyle we had in North America but it is better. Can't get much worse than the Sunparks anyways! Unfortunately it appears that I will not be allowed to forget that little "summer camp" experience in Belgium just yet.

It is tax season again. It's always a challenge when you have been working in many different countries in the same year. Fortunately, someone always comes to help us fill the proper paperwork (which half the time is in a language we do not even comprehend!). So I did my taxes last week and found out that Belgium actually owes me money (too much was deducted from my pay check). So that's good news, right? Wait, there's a catch...

Although the tax year in Belgium is the same as everywhere else, I will not be allowed to claim my refund until the month of October. And after that it could take up to a year to process the claim and issue the refund. What the hell is wrong with that country? I don't suppose they would accept to wait a year and a half if I owed them money, right? I didn't think so. Who is processing those tax refunds? Mag-Lite Dude?? I give up.
